Free check for California workers

Fired or forced out of a California job?

See if you qualify for a free, confidential case review with an employment attorney. Takes about a minute.

Question 1 of 5
  • Free review
  • Confidential
  • No fee unless you win*

How it works

  1. Answer a few quick questions. About a minute, on your phone.
  2. A California employment attorney in our network reviews it. Their team contacts you by phone, text or email.
  3. If you have a case, they explain your options. Most work on contingency: no attorney's fee unless you win.*

What California law protects

California is "at will," so unfair isn't always illegal. But it can be illegal when a worker is fired, demoted or pushed out:

  • after complaining to HR or a manager, or reporting something unsafe or illegal
  • because of age (40+), race, sex, pregnancy, disability, religion, national origin or sexual orientation
  • for asking for or taking medical or family leave
  • after filing a workers' comp claim
  • after reporting sexual harassment, or for refusing it

Timing matters. Deadlines apply, and the sooner an attorney looks at it, the more options you usually have.

Questions people ask

Does this cost anything?

No. The review is free. Attorneys in our network generally work on contingency, so there's no attorney's fee unless you win.*

Will my employer find out?

No. Your answers go only to Fired Advocates and its partner attorneys. Nobody contacts your employer because you filled this out.

Who is Fired Advocates?

We're not a law firm. We connect California workers with independent, California-licensed employment attorneys who review cases and decide whether they can help.

I signed something when I left. Can I still ask?

Yes. Tell us in the form. Some agreements don't cover every claim, and an attorney can tell you what yours means.
